Do I Have a Sinusitis?

Sinusitis | Lakeside allergy | Forney, TXIs it a cold? Is it allergies? Or do you have sinusitis? Sinusitis, or a sinus infection, is common this time of year. No matter where you go, you are exposed to people coughing and sneezing, spreading germs. But even if you catch a cold or have a few days of the sniffles, most of the time, symptoms clear up on their own. When they don’t, or when your symptoms get worse, you may have sinusitis.

Sinusitis Symptoms

Symptoms like a stuffy or runny nose are easy to confuse with the common cold. But if you are also blowing your nose and seeing yellow or green mucus, if you have been suffering with a stuffy nose for more than a week, if you are running a fever, or if you are experiencing a great deal of pain in around and behind your eyes, it may be sinusitis. Colds are viruses that can’t be cured, but sinusitis is usually caused by a bacterial infection that may require antibiotics or are treatment to clear up.

Treating Sinusitis

One of the most important ways to treat sinusitis begins at home: increase your fluid intake. When you make an appointment to see one of our ENTs in Rockwall and Fornie we will help you determine the best treatment plan for your sinusitis. In most cases, conservative treatment will result in success, so you may be prescribed a course of antibiotics or a nasal spray. If your sinusitis symptoms persist or don’t respond to more conservative treatments, we may recommend surgical treatment. At Lakeside Allergy ENT, we offer the best minimally invasive chronic sinusitis treatments, including Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), Balloon Sinuplasty, or Propel Sinus Implant.

Lakeside Allergy ENT is home to three board-certified otolaryngologists who specialize in diagnosis and treatment of all ear, nose, and throat related disorders, including sinus infections and chronic sinusitis. Sinus infection treatment requires expert care. If you have any of the symptoms of sinusitis, call our office at 972-771-5443 or get started by requesting an appointment using the form on this page.
